Our lab was well represented by two doctoral presentations focusing on the future of agriculture:

Udit Debangshi shared his research on how AI-Radar irrigation is enhancing water efficiency right here in ...Kansas.💧

Nishadini Widanagamage presented her work on evaluating the impact of Bacillus subtilis and biochar on improving soil moisture retention. 🌱

Hello world, we are glad to introduce our team mascot “DARTinho”. 👏🏻 Kudos to @dgpapalia and her mind blowing creativity to bring all ideas to life. DARTinho will be soon chilling with his cup of coffee and dirty boots in TH 1006.

This dude is a little bit farmer, a little bit ...scientist, fully powered to fly around Kansas farms.

Dani (@dgpapalia ) designed him to represent what we care about most connecting technology with fields (so soil in the boots with good moisture). From drones in the sky to sensors in the soil, he can do all things tech in the farm. And yes, coffee in hand is part of the process ☕ We bleed coffee and so does DARTinho.

A special touch behind the name, it carries a Portuguese feel and a connection to the creative mind who brought him to life. Thanks Dani to bring DARTinho’s existence. 😎
